Instructor Assisted Deployment

IAD is a student progression in which the first jump is made from an altitude of 3500ft.

The instructor deploys the parachute as the student leaves the airplane.

As the student master skill, s/he progresses in altitude through 10 second, 15 second, 30 second, and finally 45 second delays from the time s/he exits the airplane until opening the parachute.

Before the first jump a ground school must be completed, it typically takes approximately 6 hours and is normally completed and the first jump made in one day.
